Lok Sabha Election 5th Phase Voting Date, Constituencies Name, Other Details!

The 2024 general elections are going on in full swing in India. The first four phases are already completed in the respective constituencies, now we are close to the fifth phase of the elections. The article covers everything you wish to know about the 5th phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Election to commence on 20 May 2024.

Lok Sabha Election 5th Phase Voting Date

The Election Commission of India has announced the 18th Lok Sabha Election schedule on 16 March 2024. According to the schedule, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections begin on 19 April 2024 and are being commenced in seven phases nationwide to select 543 members of Lok Sabha.

In 22 states, the EIC will conduct the single-phase voting, whereas J&K and Maharashtra elections are set in five phases, and Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh voting will undergo all seven phases at various constituencies. 

With four phases done, we are near the end of the 18th Lok Sabha election and preparing for the fifth phase that will commence on Monday, 20 May 2024 across six states( UP, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha) and two UTs (J&K and Ladakh).

On 20 May 2024, a total of 695 candidates’ fates will be locked on EVM by the voters of the respective states and UTs. The last two phases of the 18th Lok Sabha election will commence on 25 May 2024 and 1 June 2024, respectively.

General Election 5th Phase Seats

The voters will vote for the 49 seats in the fifth phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Election across six states and two UTs. 

Here’s the 49 constituencies where voters will exercise their voting rights and take part in the festival of democracy to choose the next leader of the nation:

Candidates to watch out on the Lok Sabha 5th Phase election

The fifth phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Election will lock the fate of some prominent names of Indian politics that are hard to miss on the upcoming Monday voting. Let’s see who are these key candidates contesting in the fifth phase:

  • Smriti Irani: Smriti Irani, the prominent minister of BJP has won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, ending the stronghold of the Congress Gandhi family on the Amethi seat. In this Lok Sabha election, she will be contesting for the third time from Amethi. She is contesting against the Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma.
  • Rahul Gandhi: The famous Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi will contest the 2024 General election from Rae Bareli, UP. The Gandhi family has a stronghold in the Rae Bareli seat and now Rahul Gandhi is contesting for the seat, which is vacated by his mother, Sonia Gandhi.
  • Chirag Paswan: The son of the late Ramvilas Paswan and President of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest the 2024 general elections from Hajipur, Bihar against RJD Chandra Ram. It will be interesting to see if Chirag Paswan will be able to retain the Hajipur seat.
  • Omar Abdullah: The Vice-President of the National Conference will contest from Baramulla, J&K seat against  Fayaz Ahmad Mir of the People’s Democratic party and Sajjad Gani Lone of the People’s Conference. 
  • Rajnath Singh: The former President of BJP and the current Minister of Defence will contest his long-time seat from Lucknow, UP against Ravidas Mehrotra from the Samajwadi Party.

Opinion Polls Prediction for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

The last phase of the 2024 general election will fall on 1 June 2024 and the counting of the election will begin on 4 June 2024. With the election near the end, there are many speculations over the winning side of the 2024 elections. 

According to opinion polls, many pollsters predicted that BJP will secure its third win in the Lok Sabha Elections but it may fall behind its 400+ target. 

The possibility of opinion polls and exit polls is mixed with success and failure, so we can’t rely on opinion polls. But, it can give you an idea of the current scenario, the exit polls will be out on election day, so you can expect some predictions on the fifth phase by famous media outlets.
